Traditionally researchers’ literature reviews aspired to summarising the knowledge concerning a research topic.
The sheer amount of studies makes this a unrealistic ideal.
Systematic reviews aim to cover all currently available evidence concerning a very specific research question.
If this evidence is numeric it can then also be assessed used meta-regressions.
This brief session is meant to give a very quick overview of what systematic reviews and meta-regressions are and what they can do for social scientists.
We will briefly consider how to get started with a review. Through discussion activities participants will be encouraged to think how this technique might be relevant for their own work.
