led by Dr James Bartlett and Dr Wilhelmiina Toivo
We will provide a beginner’s introduction to quantitative data visualisation using the statistical programming language R. We expect no prior knowledge of using R, this is meant for complete beginners, but more experienced users are welcome. Our workshop will be structured around a recent tutorial article from our department which provides an online resource for learning data visualisation using R. In addition to coding, we will also discuss principles of visual data communication such as choosing appropriate colour palettes. The workshop will be interactive with a range of live demonstrations, individual tasks, and a final group project to demonstrate what you have learnt. We are both psychologists, but we will try to demonstrate a range of data examples, so you can see the applications to your subject area.
Who’s it for?
Any researcher who uses quantitative data in their studies. We expect no prior knowledge of using R and although we are both psychologists, we will try to use different data examples so you can apply the principles to your subject area.
