Doctoral-Led Symposium 2025

May 2 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

This will be a day-long event, taking place at the University of Stirling’s Stirling Court Hotel on Friday the 2nd May.  It will take place in person, and we will record some sessions for anyone who cannot join us on the event day or interests in reviewing those sessions.

The symposium will consist of a variety of activities, such as panels, talks and interactive wellbeing sessions, providing the opportunity for PGR students from Universities across Scotland to:

  • learn about and discuss research creativity and embracing change, whatever it means to you
  • explore wellbeing for PGR researchers
  • socialise, support and learn from your peers in the Social Science community

There will also be an optional early evening social activity and drinks reception, so you can relax and get to know other social science researchers across Scotland. If you would like to attend, please check the ‘I would like to attend the evening event’ box when you sign up.

We will be listening to students’ Lightning Talks (up to 5 minutes including Q&A) about what research creativity and embracing change means to them. Please note that the deadline for signing up to give a Lightning Talk has now passed.

There will also be a choice of wellbeing activity:

You will be contacted with a finalised timetable and details about the venue and travel options closer to the date.

As ever, the event is by PGR students, for PGRs students! All Social Science PGRs at Scottish universities are welcome to attend, regardless of your funding status. Whether you are SGSSS-funded or not, you can claim expenses directly caused by attending this event (e.g., travel, childcare) through this link. Further details of SGSSS’s expense policy are available here.
