Making Things Up As Ethical Practice

16 June 2022 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

led by Dr Harvey Humphrey

*Please note that face coverings are required for this workshop*

This workshop will introduce examples of ethnodrama, composite participants and ethical fictionalisation to discuss broader issues of representation of diverse participants’ stories when working with qualitative data. Examples from my own work using ethnodrama for a project addressing trans and intersex activist relationships will be used to illustrate ways this can work and potential problems with this methodology. Attendees are encouraged to bring sections of anonymised data and/or fieldwork diaries to work with during the workshop.  This interactive workshop will encourage attendees to think about how to analyse data, how to present data and how to do justice to participants’ narratives while answering their research question.

Who’s it for?

This workshop is aimed at PGRs who have collected/are collecting qualitative data and are thinking about (or have started) analysing it. Attendees do not need to be thinking about fictionalisation as a strategy.
