Course will run from 10am – 6pm on Wednesday 14th May and 10am-5pm on Thursday 15th May.
Join us in this two-day training which will enable you to (1) broaden your understanding of intersectionality in the area of language teacher education, and (2) develop a toolbox of appropriate research methods in language education-oriented research. Content:
- Queering the ESOL classroom: Intersectional approaches to material design and evaluation.
- Intersectionality in language teacher education curriculum: research on inclusive language employing critical digital ethnography.
- Inclusive methods, queer data and who counts?
- Intersectional research with children and young people: framing educational practices and priorities.
- A decolonised intersectional approach to researching lived experiences of the marginalized.
- Language (teacher) education curriculum, language-in-education policy, legislation, and intersectionality.
- Advancing research methods in language education with an intersectionality orientation.
- Reflections, provocations, and crossing professional borders.
The training will feature hands-on activities, discussions, and presentations from academics from these universities: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Strathclyde, and UCL. It is suitable for all doctoral students interested in language education and/or intersectionality research.
Attendees are required to bring their own device (laptop/tablet).
