Spring into Methods: A Playful Approach to Exploring Evidence Based Policy Impact

May 13 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

This workshop will consider the potential for and process of policy impact and campaigning through research-based evidence. Participants will learn about the core concepts and processes of policy impact, and how these could be relevant for their own work. This will be done in an playful and engaging manner, using a card-based tool we have developed, called the ‘Policy Cards’. You will be given a chance to use the Policy Cards to develop a campaign for policy impact based on your own research.

The Policy Cards will help ‘players’ to map the space between their evidence and mechanisms for policy change. The cards offer a novel, flexible and collaborative approach that can support both novice and experienced academics in finding creative approaches to policy engagement.

The workshop is open to students from any discipline. No prior knowledge of or experience with policy impact is required. All you need is curiosity and an interest in looking at your work from a potentially different perspective.

11:00 Introduction
11:30 Policy Cards Activity
