Stop Being Disciplined!

April 30 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

led by Dr Shari Sabeti and Dr David Overend

How can we respond to an increasingly complex and challenging world? Can we stop playing by the rules?

This workshop asks how we can ‘Stop Being Disciplined!’? Originally developed as a performance at the Stand Comedy Club for the Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas, this workshop includes performance, conversation and tools to help you explore the blurry edges of your disciplines. We need playful, messy, and unpredictable spaces where new approaches can be developed.

Dr David Overend (The University of Edinburgh) explores a series of wild and weird experiments with artists, scientists and geographers; then asks some difficult questions about how we should work together, share ideas and respond to the big challenges facing our world today. Can we all become a bit less disciplined?

This is a hybrid event which will take place in person at the University of Edinburgh and online for attendees not able to make it in person.

This is a Challenge Pathway Event for SGSSS funded students only.
