led by Dr Alasdair Stewart
This guided lab session explores the analytical tools within NVivo for organising, navigating, and further developing your qualitative analysis. Through examples and exercises, the session will bring together methodological and practical considerations to explore the flexible uses of these tools for different methodological approaches and stages of analysis. There will also be opportunities during the session for discussing the topics covered – including collections, visualisations, queries, and framework matrices – in relation to your own analysis.
The session is suitable for researchers at different stages of their analysis, whether initial planning or building upon existing analysis. The morning NVivo session with Dr Katy Keenan and Dr Kathryn Fredricks will provide a helpful introduction for those new to NVivo or wanting a refresher before this afternoon session.
An NVivo project file with example data will be provided, but you are welcome to use your own data as well. As USB sticks cannot be used in the University of Dundee’s computer labs, to work with your own NVivo project file you will need to access it through cloud-based email or storage.
You may wish to bring your own laptop if you use a Mac device, as this session will be in a computer lab with Windows machines.
