Working in Higher Education: Interviews and expanding your options

Professor Lydia Plowman (University of Edinburgh), Dr Sam Fawkner (Deputy Head of School, Moray House School of Education, Edinburgh), Dr Anne Sofie Laegran (Head of Knowledge Exchange and Impact, Edinburgh Research Office) and Professor Duncan Ross (Dean of Graduate Studies, Glasgow) will share their experiences of being on interview panels and will provide some tips on how to prepare and manage the interview process. Most people think of academic roles such as postdocs and lectureships when applying for jobs within higher education, but there are other roles that increasingly expect a successful candidate to have a doctorate, so we will also consider some of the other opportunities that may be available.
