Led by Catriona Forrest
This session offers an overview of the media, how it works and why. The activities are in four parts: the first part covers definitions of news and newsworthiness, and the second part looks at the structure and conventions of press releases. Then we will do practical group exercises in which you will generate a news story and a press release, and finally we’ll discuss what challenges you have faced and how a Social Sciences researcher could be involved.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop and smartphone.
