Led by Professor Melanie Simms
This workshop will explore the use of comparative case study design. We will discuss what case studies are and how we need to think carefully about the boundaries of any single case. We will then discuss which points of comparison are being selected in order to build theoretical extension from comparing case studies. There will be plenty of opportunity for participants to reflect on their own research. This is a broad social science introduction and probably less suitable for PGRs from a comparative politics or international relations background – although they are welcome to contribute if they wish.
