Led by Dr Melanie Lovett
This is an informative and interactive session that considers the value of creativity in research. It begins with an introduction to what creative methods are, how they relate to epistemological and ontological positions, and when you might use them. I draw on examples from my own experience of using fictional novels and Forum Theatre in researching ageing and the future. In the second half of the session you will be asked to work in pairs/small groups to discuss how you might use creative methods in your own research projects. By the end of the session you will have a greater understanding of how creative methods can generate new ways of sociological thinking, and how you might practically use them in your research.
