This interactive online workshop on the 22nd of October is for PhD researchers across Scotland interested in using Scottish Gaelic in social sciences research.
We will discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with working in a minority language area, engaging with Gaelic communities, accessing Gaelic resources in your research and Gaelic across the research process. We will be sharing insights from our own research projects and we invite participants to contribute thoughts from their own work throughout the event. Whilst the event is open to all, requiring no fluency in the language, the training is designed to explore topics relevant to your work.
Attendees should have a good idea where Gaelic fits or could fit into their own in research in order to participate. The event is interdisciplinary, open to students in all SGSSS pathways and we aim to bring researchers together with plenty of space for discussion and interaction and a network facility to connect following the event. This event is open to all including fluent speakers but will be geared towards those with limited or only basic fluency in the Gaelic language.
This is a full day event between 09:30 and 15:30 taking place using Zoom with a mixture of presentations, discussion and interactive breakout sessions. The event is facilitated by Zoe Russell (University of Stirling) and Déirdre Ní Mhathúna (University of the Highlands and Islands).
